On May 31, 2019 the International Seminar of the journal “Turkology” was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages
The guest of the seminar was the head of Turkic Languages chair of Kiyev National Linguistic University of the Republic of Ukraine – associate-prof. Tatyana Timkova.
Opening the seminar Akad. Kamal abdullayev, the Editor- in-Chief of Turkology mentioned that. “The main aim of this seminar which is functioning within the journal “Turkology” is to discuss the successes and problems of Turkology together with distinguished Turkologists, to acquaint young Turkologists with the legendary people of this science, and to help to improve Turkology as a science and its interrelations with other scientific fields Akad. Kamal Abdullayev also noted that “The journal” “Turkology” covers most of the fields of Turkology, unlike its predecessors.
Then T. Timkova spoke about Turkological researches in the Ukraine, Giving information about teaching Turkic languages at Kiyev National Linguistic University, T. Timkova mentioned that “The Azerbaijani Language and Literature are being taught at the University. She also added that “Turkological researches are being done at a number of Ukrainian Universities, and many researchers are working in this field.”
Then the Executive-secretary of the journal Dr. Elchin Ibrahimov mentioned in his speech that” the idea of having seminars of the journal belongs to the Editor-in-Chief the journal Akad. Kamal Abdullayev. At the same time, he added that “The first seminar of the journal with the participation of the International Advisors was held on the initiative of Akad. K. Abdullayev and it has already become a tradition.”
E. Ibrahimov also said to the participants that “wide and thorough researches in the field of Turkology are being done in Azerbaijan today”.
At the end of the seminar T.Timkova expressed her gratitude to all the participants of the seminar and said that “she loved our country very much, because all the people here are very friendly and that’s why they made a very good impression on her and excited her interest in Azerbaijan, and tempted her to study history, language, culture and Literature of Azerbaijan.
Then discussions on different problems were held and same questions given by the participants were answered.
The seminar was attended by many people, such as, by the collaborators of the Turkic Languages Department at the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi in the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, by the collaborators of the journal “Turkology”, and by students of different universities, such as, Baku State University, Baku Engineering University, Khazar University and Baku Eurasian University and so on.
At the end of the seminar the Ukrainian guest was given a present and a photo was taken as a memory.
