The Next Seminar of “Turkology” Was Held

On May 16. 2018 the next seminar of the journal of “Turkology” was held. The guest of the seminar was Prof.Dr.Mehman Musaoghlu, from Gazi University, Turkey. He gave a speech on “Turkological Linguistics: Problems, Perspectives and Suggestions”.
The Director of the Institute of Linguistics in the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, (NASA) – Full Member of NASA, Academician Mohsun Naghisoylu, Prof. Roza Eyvazova, the Head of Turkic Languages Department – associate-professor Aygul Hajiyeva, Professor Maharram Mammadly from Baku State University, Professor Kamil Bashirov from Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and some collaborators of the same University – Gatiba Mahmudova, Shabnam Hasanova, Elnara Aliyeva and Tarana Shukurlu, as well as, post-graduate of the Philological Faculty from Baku State University – Imanyar Guliyev, the Executive Secretary of “Turkology” – Dr. Elchin Ibrahimov the other collaborators of the journal, also students took part in the seminar.


First of all, the Deputy Editor in chief of the journal, the Director of the Institute of Linguistics, FullMember of NASA – Acad. Mohsun Naghisoylu spoke about Prof. Dr. Mehman Musaoghlu’s scientific activity and the importance of the seminar held there.
The Executive Secretary of “Turkology” – Dr. Elchin Ibrahimov gave the partici pants all round information about the seminar, He mentioned that the idea of holding such kind of seminars within the journal of “Turkology” belongs to the Editor in Chief of the journal – Academician Kamal Abdullayev the very first seminar of the journal was held with the participation of the International Advisors. And this first step has already become a tradition and seminars are held regularly. The themes of the held seminars are dedicated to different fields of Turkology and its actual problem.


Then the seminar continued with Prof.Dr. Mehman Musaoghlu’s speech. He spoke on “Traditional, New, Modern Turkological Linguistics and Traditionally-Deseriptive Turkological Linguistics; Finite and Non Finite forms of the Verb or Participle, Gerund and Infinitive; wage of some syntactical constructions instead of the predicate of the sentence; zero category of aspect in the analytical verbs expresses by lexic, semantic and morphological ways in perfect, continuous and perfect-continuous verbs, and dwelt on the word-forming suffixes in the language.”


Speaking about the latest linguistic researches on Turkic Languages, Prof. Dr. M.Musaoghlu dwelt on “The Two-level Pronunciation model of words in Turkic languages and their comparatively-explanatory study and suggested that the traditional way of solving this problem is “The word stress in Turkic language is always on the last syllable.” At the same time, he spoke about the lack of study on the structural, semantic and semiotic structures of the word its stem and suffix, morphemes, as well as, the lack of study of the word as a syntactic semantic and pragmatic component according to the language on speech context.” At the end of the seminar discussions concerning the theme were held and the participants’ questions were answered.
It must be mentioned that M.Musaoghlu is also the member of International Advisors’ Staff of the journal of “Turkology.”

ur periodical will firmly continue the scientific and cultural traditions of the journal “Soviet turkology” which once enjoyed a wide popularity with the territory of former Soviet Union and international arena as well. In different times this journal was headed by distinguished scientists, such as, M. Shiraliyev, E.R.Tenishev, A.Akhundov and T.Hajiyev who did their best for it. Today by the requirements of globalization epoch the scientific space of the journal needs to be expanded furthermore. And it can’t be limited within the frame of the materials referring only Turkological linguistics and folklore. Besides Turkological linguistics, its readers are eager to see in it materials on ethnography, philosophy, history, literature, culture studies as well.
