REPORT of “TURKOLOGY” JOURNAL
“ Turkology”Journal made a report at the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi. The Editor-in Chief of the Journal – Academician Kamal Abdulla, and the deputy Editor-in Chief – Corresponding member of the NASA Mukhtar Imanov also took part there.
The opening speech was made by Director of the Institute of Linguistics, the Corresponding member of the NASA – Mohsun Naghisoylu. He drew everybody’s attention to the agenda of the meeting which included in itself the annual report of “Turkology” Journal.
In his speech Mohsun Naghisoyly spoke about the history of the journal. He mentioned “that on the initiative of Academician M.Sh. Shiraliyev and by the support of the Russian Turkologists from Moscow and Leningrad an event dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the First Turkological Congresswas held in Baku in 1966. In 1970 “Sovetskaya Turkologiya” Journal began functioning. Since that time up to July, 1987 the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal was the distinguished turkologist – Academician M. Shiraliyev. During the years of 1987 – 1993 the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal was the Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Russia, head of the Department of the Turkish language of the Institute of Linguistics of the Academy of Sciences of Russia – A.Tenishev.
Since 1992 “Sovetskaya Turkologiya” began its functioning under the title “Turkology”. During the years of 1993 – August, 2014 the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal was Academician Aghamusa Akhundov, but since December, 2014 up to February, 2016 the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal was Academician Tofig Hajiyev.
According to the Decision of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, dated February 17, 2016 , 4\ 14, Academician Kamal Abdullayev was assigned the Editor-in-Chief of “Turkology” Journal.
The Editor-in-Chief of “Turkology” Journal Academician Kamal Abdullayev spoke about the present day activity of the Journal. He mentioned “that according to the Decision of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan “Turkology” Journal will cover not only linguistic problems, but also the problems of Literature, History, Philosophy and some other branches of the science. After this Decision the list of the members of the Editorial Staff of the journal was expanded and certified.
At the same time, Kamal Abdulla spoke about the distinguished scholars representing the Council of International advisors from Turkey, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Poland and some other countries.
Acad. Abdullayev also mentioned great authority of “Turkology” Journal abroad. He noted that the papers from Kazakhstan, Germany, Uzbekistan, Poland are also published in this journal.
Moreover, Academician K. Abdullayev informed all the listeners about the seminars, organized within the journal and said the part of Appendix is expected to be published in the journal soon. K.Abdulla also mentioned “that we put an aim of subscription to the journal, too. There are 38 subscriptions of it. The journal is given as a present to the scientific and educational institutions both in the country and abroad.”
At the end of his speech K.Abdulla asked the meeting to be appreciated as the expression of the attitudes to the Institute of Linguistics.
Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Corresponding member of the NASA – Mukhtar Imanov also appreciated the activity of the journal highly. He spoke about the changes in the journal. He also spoke about the newly-opened center of “Turkology” and called it very useful and successful.
Executive Secretary of the Journal – Elchin Ibrahimov spoke about international relations of “Turkology” Journal. He said that meetings with the Leadership of the Turkic languages Institutions were organized in Turkey. At the same time, seminars of “Turkology” Journal were held in Gazi and Hacettepe Universities in Turkey in February.
Elchin Ibrahimov also mentioned that the main aim was to meet the international advisors of the Journal from Turkey to discuss further cooperation with the journal.
At the end of the meeting the report of “Turkology” Journal was approved by the Scientific Council of the Institute of Linguistics.
